So we are coming to the end of year 3! What a year it’s been, there’s been so much going off in and around the Blue Zone at Hilton Primary School. From climbing up the steep steps of Castle Keep dressed as a whole host of scary creatures, to nibbling on Victorian sweets at Beamish. From speeding down the country on the train to London, to travelling back to the 1980’s in our Christmas play!

But now it’s time to vote for your ULTIMATE favourite moment from your time in Mr. Heeley’s class. Vote below!

Our poems about Kensuke’s Kingdom.

In class we have just finished reading Kensuke’s Kingdom, a brilliant story about a boy called Michael who goes sailing around the world with his family, but ends up stranded on a desert island with a peculiar man called Kensuke. We particularly focused on describing our senses when writing our poem.

These are some of our fabulous poems written by children from our class about the island where Kensuke and Michael have their adventures…

A poem about Kensuke’s Kingdom by Caitlyn K

You can see the huge furry gorillas,

Also you can see the golden hot sand in the distant,

The red bananas hanging of the bright green trees,

There are unusual animals also men.

You can hear the trees swishing with the wind,

The breeze from the light blue sky,

You can hear the dark blue sea swishing in the night.

You can touch the milky coconuts,

You can touch the light cold blue sea,

Also the long wet wavy grass,

As well as you can touch the soggy seaweed on the cave.

A poem about Kensukes Kingdom by Mason P

Mountains as silver as a skyscraper,

The sand burning like a cooker.

Boats engines vibrating through the sea,

Tree’s leaves rattling,

Orangatangs muttering about.

Fish as wet as oil on a pan,

Sat next to a burning fire.

The smell of jackfruit, red bananas and fish makes my tongue stick out,

The smell of the fresh, delicate breeze whooshing in from the sea.

We have been reading Kensuke's Kingdom by Michael Morpurgo
